
Rioja closed a record 2014, with 281 million liters of wine sold
Rioja returned to dribble the economic crisis last year and its wines continued the positive trend from the previous year. According to the final balance provided by the Control Board, sales totaled an increase of five million bottles, representing a new record high with a total of 281 million liters sold.
Exports again pull sales, albeit at a slower pace (+ 3.6%) than in previous years, and the wines aged in oak barrels, with whites, concentrated the entire growth (+ 2.66% 13.67% and +, respectively).
In total, the QDO Rioja sold during 2014 a total of 280,789,424 million liters, 1.31% more than the 277 167 280 2013. Of these, 90% were red wines (253.5 million liters ); White followed with 14.85 million liters, an increase of 13.67%; and finally, pink, 12.42 million liters.
