Vintage 2014: Good expectations
The Rioja Control Board of the QDO Rioja has "really good" harvest expectations for 2014, after which analyzed the first 10 million liters of wine.
In this aspect, all the wines from Rioja must undergo chemical and organoleptic testing "to determine if the wine produced deserves the Qualified Designation of Origin". The pre-qualification to have the right to belong to the QDO Rioja influenced the improvement of the winemaking process.
Quality control ranges from the aging process to marketing, moment at which the Council will deliver to the wineries the label which guarantees the origin, vintage and aging of the wines.
For this year, the forecast is to be counted with about 7300 samples in total.
Rioja wines will have a final vintage rating for the next month of April or May.
